I spoke with a friend who covers UAB earlier this morning. His opinion is that there's definite interest on the part of UAB in courting Andy Kennedy to become head coach at his alma mater.

There's a big gap between the $625,000 salary UAB was paying Mike Davis and the $1.3 million salary Ole Miss pays to Kennedy. On the surface, it doesn't look like UAB is in position to offer a whole lot more than it was already paying.

Ole Miss senior executive associate AD John Hartwell said this morning that chancellor Dan Jones and Kennedy met over the weekend and that those conversations will continue for several weeks.

Hartwell said the Ole Miss administration was in Kennedy contract mode before his name became attached to the UAB opening.

It appears Jones has gotten involved early and will be involved heavily. Right now in athletics, if a fire broke out in the building it's not clear who would lead the way out.

Kennedy is overpaid. I say let him go. In response to Mr. ALL CAPITALS, what do those 20 wins get us? A trip to the NIT? Southern Miss went to the big boy tournament this year, how does that stick in your craw?

A $700,000.00 dollar pay-cut. I dont think he's leaving. Ole Miss has committed to a new arena, he has a ton of talent coming back plus what he has signed. He's done a great job, but the measure of a basketball coach is "trips to the dance". If you give grades its B . I hope he stays cause next year will be his 1st to the DANCE,but if not thanks coach!! The next coach will step into a sweet deal.

We could very well see Coach Kennedy the next basketball coach for UAB. ALSO watching him and his team in the NCAA tournament play next season.
