The possibility of a visit to Ole Miss by ESPN's popular College Gameday crew has made for interesting internet discussion recently. I'm hearing there's been no official contact with the university, and a person with knowledge of such proceedings rates such a visit as unlikely.

ESPN producers and other network folks did meet with the pertinent folks at Ole Miss and conduct a site survey for a possible visit in 2008.

The date in question is the Ole Miss-Texas game on Sept. 15. This stage of the calendar would be a time of planning for ESPN. Maybe the game is on the network's list of possibilities, but there are apparently no official wheels turning at this time.

With the state of affairs in Oxford I cant imagine why anyone would think that a possibility. You look at the schedule this year and a VERY optimistic fan would mark down 4 wins.... plus the divided fan base, out of touch Mr Jones, and a continued struggle to either recruit the right young men or an inability to give proper guidance once they are in school. Also, the billboards may cost them, but even more important than winning the egg bowl a couple years running, they have owned Ole Miss in marketing and public affairs. I fear our journey through the wilderness will last for quite some time....... ON A HOPEFULLY BRIGHTER NOTE: is there any news on the football or baseball recruiting landscape?
