A few items of interest from Houston Nutt's Sunday teleconference …
No news on the status of running back Enrique Davis (knee). Davis was never ruled out for Southern Illinois, though he ultimately did not dress for the game.
Nutt said the Rebels came out “pretty good” in terms of injuries against Southern Illinois, and that all players who were available for SIU were ready for Sunday's light workout.
Nutt said he was “proud, excited, encouraged” by the performance of the Rebels' defense against BYU but that the defense “at times did not play to that standard” against Southern Illinois.
He indicated that freshman offensive lineman Aaron Morris would get more reps in practice this week. “He'll continue to get more reps, whether at guard or tackle. We're just trying to teach him the playbook.”
On the Ole Miss-Vanderbilt series, Nutt noted how closely contested games have been.
“I think this. They're always fresh early. In October and November they don't seem to have the depth of a lot of teams. You go back in history, this is one game they think they're going to win for whatever reason. The scores are extremely close.”

I'm worried that this Franklin guy can coach, and when fundamentally sound teams play the Rebs, our smoke and mirrors don't work too well.
