Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt thought his quarterback competiton would be settled by now, but that has not been the case.

Nutt and his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, David Lee, have praised each of the three candidates for having strengths different from the others, and the coaches say they would not be hesitant to use any one of the quarterbacks on game day.

In theory, you can only use one.

We've written about the quarterbacks extensively, and now camp is complete. The school year has started, and attention will turn to preparation for BYU.

So, who's the winner?

A. Barry Brunetti

B. Randall Mackey

C. Zack Stoudt

Leave your logic along with your answer.

It's all about leadership. We want the best Leader to be the QB on this team. Whoever is taking charge of the huddle and setting the best example needs to be the guy. Not sure who that is, but that is the key to be an effective QB, right? We want the guy who is working out first, and leaving last. That's the guy.

Nutt stated earlier that Mackey would miss the BYU game bc of the incident last night. A good friend of mine has told me that Mackey was talking to a guys girlfriend at the lyric last night and the girls boyfriend blindsided him and he swung back. A brawl broke out and when the cops got there the guy pushed Mackey into the cop that was there and it busted the cops lip. In the cops statement he states that Mackey wasn't trying to hit him or anything. They arrested over 25 ppl in the brawl and the guy that pushed Mackey got AGG Assault. I'm sure this will be dropped just like Mosley's incident did. Mosley was walking back to campus after he had been drinking and he wasn't drunk. This is all coming from friends of mine that are employed by OPD. Seems like wrong place wrong time in both incidents. Got to remember that nothing good goes on or happens after midnight. Hope the best for both of these guys and for the rest to stay away from the stray. HOTTY TODDY

Looks like Mackey got crunk last night and got in a fight. 2nd Rebel to get arrested in the last four days. Here we go again.

I would like to see Stoudt get a shot. He has the best arm and can also move. Nutt has said that he has good footwork and can be mobile if he has to be. We have a good experienced O-line to protect him and a good running game.

A tough decision, apparently, or the coaches would have already made it. Based on what I've read, I think Mackey has a very slight edge over Brunetti. With that said, I would use the other QB in the Wild Rebel. Keep Stoudt as the third guy and get him some playing time if possible over the season.

In theoy, I cannot pick either - truthful, I don't know. Do Think that OM coachin staff had better make up their mind soon, if they expect to give BYU a competitive football game. As it appears now The rebels will be 0-1 after that game.

Brunetti

At first glance, I would have to say Stoudt. We are supposed to have a strong running game, a strong O-Line, and at receiver, we have a mix of speed and size. So, one would think the pocket passer would be the best choice for that combination of personnel.

However, from the reports that I have read, our young and inexperienced defense seems to be able to put pressure in the backfield and cause problems for our offence. So, in that scenario, I would have to go with Brunetti. Although brings a very similar set of skills as Mackey, he has three years to be a Rebel and we should go ahead and build for the future.

Parrish, so glad you asked. Same theme as most of your followers in that I think its Mackey. Another angle on this is that Brunetti could have easily not received his waiver and would be sitting out anyway. Ultimately, I think Mackey has the most "upside"; he will make mistakes, but hopefully he gets better and better as the season goes on.

I hope its Mackey. I think he and Brunetti are close, but Mackey has a year on him with getting to know the system. Best case scenario is to redshirt Brunetti, and then he'll have two years after Mackey to start.

my guess is randall mackey. with none of the 3 really standing out, i think mackey has a speed advantage. but at the same time, if he has communication problems then he is at a disadvantage. so if communication is good, i say mackey wins the job.

B. - Randall Mackey to me is our best option. He is quick and elusive on his feet and to go with that he's the most accurate passer on the run and with the deep ball. To me our offensive line is built to run the ball. I don't see a drop back passer making it in the SEC behind our O-line. They are deep and talented but I believe that if we were to have Stoudt as a QB we would go from first in the league in sacks allowed to last. I do see where the coaches seem like they can't make a decision. I don't think that Stoudt is even in the equation. I think they know who has the most QB talent and thats Mackey. I do believe that Barry Brunetti has the mind set for the position though. If we were to go to Stoudt I think we should use 2 qb's with Mackey running the wild rebel, bc he gives you the weapons you need to run it.
