There had been some talk that MSU's run to today's championship game in Hoover might have earned it a host site. The scenario was floated that the Bulldogs, by virtue of their success against Kentucky this season, might have taken Kentucky's host site.

As it turns out, neither team is a host, and it was Miami that jumped into what many thought would be a Kentucky regional. The SEC was awarded just three host sites: Florida, South Carolina and LSU. The Pac-12 got four host sites: Oregon, UCLA, Stanford, Arizona.

Food for thought: If Kentucky can slip in host status, can Ole Miss slip out? We'll know tomorrow. With a fourth of the host sites out west, chances may be better that the Rebels get in but are shipped to the left coast.

The remainder of the field will be announced tomorrow morning at 11 on ESPNU, an hour-long show.

The 16 regional sites, with host institutions and records (through May 26) are as follows:

Baton Rouge, La. — LSU (43-16)

Chapel Hill, N.C. — North Carolina (44-14)

Charlottesville, Va. — Virginia (38-17)

College Station, Texas — Texas A&M (42-16)

Columbia, S.C. — South Carolina (40-17)

Coral Gables, Fla. — *Miami (Fla.) (36-20)

Eugene, Ore. — *Oregon (42-16)

Gainesville, Fla. – Florida (42-18)

Gary, Ind. — Purdue (44-12)

Houston, Texas — Rice (40-17)

Los Angeles, Calif. — *UCLA (41-14)

Palo Alto, Calif. — *Stanford (37-16)

Raleigh, N.C. — North Carolina State (39-17)

Tallahassee, Fla. — Florida State (43-15)

Tucson, Ariz. — *Arizona (37-17)

Waco, Texas — Baylor (44-14)

*Teams that are playing Sunday.

I think that Ole Miss is in somewhere, as I post in another posting the Rebels a 3 or 4 seed somewhere. As for Kentucky they got the shaft. In the Miami thing, I think some sort of politics enter in here, maybe political correctness, that's what Ole Miss is so famous for using. But it solves nothing, but a burden on the competing team. If a team, school, or news paper can't compete their own merit and strength, then they should fail.

Some of the teams that I feel that we will see in the College WS could be: Gators, South Carolina Florida State,LSU, Baylor, Purdue, Texas A and M,

Stanford, Rice, or Arizona, or UCLA. Miss State a very challenging team as is for Vandy, both these teams could be a surprise and make it.

But my choice is the Florida Gators.
