In a couple of hours I will be on the road to Hoover for SEC Basketball Media Day. The Ole Miss men and women are scheduled for 1:30 at the Wynfrey. Hoops updates on Twitter as they happen and here on the blog later.

Thanks biker for your comments. TO ME YOU ARE ONE OF THE old gang AND A PLEASURE. None of the names light up but back in my memory Macedonia i believe to be a Hs power house. NE was the district in which ME and my HS was assigned(south lafayette Co). And believe me, I would not have been a "splinter collector" for them. In my days NE was a better basketball school than Ole Miss and could have beaten them at anytime. back then Ole Miss had Freshment sports teams. It would have been an insult to NE to be invited to play their FRosh team. I think baseball was one of the sport that could use FRosh. NOw that Ole miss Freshmen FOOTBALL TEAM ANOTHER STORY. THEIR FRESHMEN FOOTBALL TEAMS WERE VERY GOOD. THAT'S WHEN THE REBELS WERE TRULY REBELS and HAD A STRONG WINNING TRADITION.

GO REBELS!!!!!

JB, have you indicated your high school days were in the Tula/Yocona area? I've gotten acquainted with a few guys who played HS bball in the area Noel Akin, I think at Macedonia then NE MS JC at Booneville; Wallace Pannell, lived in the Darden community, Union County I think. Not sure where he went to HS but I believe they had a state championship team in the early/mid 50's.

Not much into basketball, but that is what got me to Northwest Miss JR College in the 1950's. I came to find out later what their interest in me was. The side line benches were of old wooden structure and they needed someone on those old benches to slid up and down removing the splintwers. so i servered that interest.

I have heard that Coach Kennedy my put up a good basketball team this season. HOPE SO!!

I waiting for baseball, heard once again, that diamond REBELS have a great potential this coming season. Perhaps a very good young pitching staff with strong arms..
