Headed over to Oxford right now while light rain is falling in Tupelo. Looks like the precip has made it through Oxford.
Hugh Freeze was pleased with an offense that showed some progress in Wednesday's work. Still a long way to go on that side of the ball, but maybe yesterday was a beginning.
As is always the case this time of year, if one side continually outpaces the other in workouts, you get the question: Do you have a bad offense or a good defense?
I think the defense will have a chance to be pretty good. There are lots of guys to work with at the tackle spots, no can't-miss All-SEC players, but parts and pieces to work with. Still looking for that playmaker off the edge.
Aaron Garbutt is having a good camp, and I think the linebackers can be pretty good. If Senquez Golson continues to progress his ability at corner will not be a question, and Wesley Pendleton is have a good camp.
It will be important for the defense to carry the load for this team for a while. It's good that the offense had some success Wednesday, and hopefully that will continue. That unit doesn't need to get demoralized in August.
We'll see what today brings. Updates on Twitter and notes on the blog after practice.
GTHLSU, I think Mathers and Walton have both done good things in camp, but they're not being rushed to get ready. I think Freeze is comfortable with the idea of Scott and Mackey. As far as being another Dex, it's too early to tell.
It's hard to imagine one of the smaller backs being consistent in the SEC, unless one of them is another Dex.

Is it ACT, or high school Issues?
