A few notes from Tuesday's practice …
Brandon Bolden wasn't in a boot, but middle linebacker Mike Marry was.
Last Sunday after Bolden was injured against BYU Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt said he expected Bolden to be in a boot for a couple of weeks, so obviously this is a little ahead of schedule.
It's not totally surprising, however, given a few comments from players on Monday.
Enrique Davis was back at practice too.
Nutt stopped short of saying that Bolden and Davis would play at Vanderbilt, but it looks that way.
Even if both are back, Nutt remained very enthusiastic about Jeff Scott at tailback.
“He had 200-something all-purpose yards. Nobody's fixing to take that spot right now. He'll line up like this,” said Nutt, demonstrating with his hands on his knees in a ready position.
Marry, the Rebels' leading tackler, has a foot injury, and Nutt said it's unlikely he will be ready to play at Vanderbilt.
With Marry out today, redshirt freshman Ralph Williams was running first team and was backed up by true freshman Keith Lewis. Freshman Serderius Bryant could get in the mix too.
One who won't be in the mix freshman C.J. Johnson. Nutt said Johnson was moved to end today, a move he expects will get Johnson on the field quicker.
One other noticeable change at practice was the hard hats – white construction helmets with the red Ole Miss script decals worn by each defensive assistant coach.
