Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt announced a few lineup changes after today's practice. Freshman Aaron Morris was back at first team left guard, and Charles Sawyer looked to be working with the first team at cornerback.
That means Frank Crawford with now be the starter at free safety. That also leaves the Rebels with just two healthy guys at safety, Crawford and Damien Jackson. With Wayne Dorsey going down at end, Nutt mentioned the names of Uriah Grant, Gerald Rivers, and Jason Jones as players that were going to have to step up.
Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson very well may be the best at his position in the SEC, and Ole Miss defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix acknowledged that saying, “They are in the top in the conference in passing and scoring, and they are in the top (group) in the country in nearly every major offensive category.”
Nix also mentioned the name of CJ Johnson as a guy who was going to play more in the base defense situations. Johnson had been playing extensively on 3rd down.
Freshman safety Cody Prewitt has a broken hand, but Nutt said he has to be ready to go on Saturday. “I told him he has got to get taped up and play. We are out of options. He has to get taped up, and he has to play.”
Nutt said Prewitt would be playing with a club on his hand as former Ole Miss All-American Patrick Willis did with a similar injury during his career.
Nutt was asked about a movement among some fans to wear black to the game in an effort to show their displeasure with athletics director Pete Boone. The movement is being called “Black Out Boone.”
Nutt responded, “Lets don’t do that. Let's wear red like they have asked you all year to wear. This is our stadium, and I don’t want Arkansas fans being the only ones wearing red.”
