Welcome to the first entry of the new Lee County Neighbors blog on nems360.com. I'm excited about creating this blog to spread more good news about my neighbors in Lee County. I'm also thrilled about the startup of nems360.com. Todd Vinyard and Bill Johnson, Journal Publishing's New Media crew, have done a great job in getting this site ready and I look forward to posting on it.

I'm looking out the window of the Neighbors' Guntown bureau (a.k.a, my house) and I see the snow that fell in the middle of the night is melting away. I was awake chatting with a childhood friend on Facebook when the snow began falling. Every few minutes, I would step away from computer, look out the back door and give Rachel Philpot, my friend who now lives in San Antonio, a quick update. "Snow falling harder" ... "Snow is beginning to stick" were two of the comments, for which Rachel replied with excitement. She was happy for the people back in her native Northeast Mississippi to get the snow and hoping the schools would be closed Monday. But I'm betting the schools will be open as usual.

That's it for now. Hope you enjoy your snowy Sunday.
