The winning tradition continues for the Mississippi Lions All-State Band.

The Mississippi band, featuring Saltillo High bandmates Ali Taylor and Benjamin Corrie, won its 27th Lions International Convention marching band contest title Tuesday in Sydney, Australia.

Jeff Cannon, director/manger of the band, announced the win early this morning on his Facebook page.

"The 2010 MS Lions All-State Band ... had an incredible run yesterday," Cannon wrote. "Judges gave them a standing ovation."

Mississippi's 27 wins are the most of any state or nation in the competition, which is held every year at the site of the Lions Clubs International Convention.

Taylor plays clarinet and Corrie trombone in the 145-member Mississippi Lions band, which is made up of high school students from througout the state. Corrie is a rising senior at Saltillo High and Taylor graduated in May. They are the lone Lee Countians in this year's band.

Visit the Mississippi Lions website for the list of band members.
