These are my photos from the second annual Baldwyn Relay For Life, which took place Friday and Saturday at Latimer Park. With the support of 22 teams and the community, Baldwyn has raised more than $53,000 for the American Cancer Society. It's an incredible feat considering the goal for this year's event was $35,000. This year's theme was TV game shows, so you could play "Let's Make a Deal" or "Deal or No Deal," or simply take a spin on the "Wheel of Fortune."
My camera battery went out during the "Baldwyn Idol" contest, so I had to go to my backup cameras to shoot photos of the luminaria ceremony. The photos on the end are from my Blackberry. I posted them on Facebook Friday night and added them to this album today.
When you thumb through the photo album, check out photo No. 46. It's Janet Nichols, who had to watch last year's Relay from her car just two days after being released from the hospital. Susan Phillips, a member of the organizing committee, came out to the car to pin a survivor sash on Nichols.
A year later, Nichols returned to Relay as a participant. She made her way around the track during the Survivors Walk and joined one of the teams at its tent.
