The preschoolers at First United Methodist Church in Tupelo rode their bicycles, tricycles, Big Wheels and other wheels for a good cause Wednesday morning. The 75 kids in the age 3, 4 and 5-year-old classes participated in the fourth annual St. Jude Trike-a-Thon. The age groups rode at different times around the circular course set up in the church parking lot. After making their laps, the children in each age group finished the event by enjoying ice cream sandwiches.

The children raised $2,143 from sponsors Wednesday. More pledges expected to be turned in soon, according to preschool Leigh McGregor.

This year's Trike-a-thon was a special one for the preschool and the kids. One of participants, Ann Reagan Sanders, has been a St. Jude patient. She was riding her bike along with her friends in the 5-year-old group. Another preschooler, Will Hodges, is undergoing treatment at the Memphis medical center.  One of the boys riding in the trike-a-thon had a balloon attached to his bike honoring Will.

In addition to raising money for St. Jude, the trike-a-thon gives the children to learn bike safety. Check out the photos of the kids having fun in the trike-a-thon and enjoying ice cream sandwiches.
