RIENZI - George Allen King, 70, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at his home.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Pamp&P Cemetery in the Strickland community. Magnolia Funeral Home of Corinth is in charge of the arrangements.

Johnny Bunch

CORINTH - Howard Johnson "Johnny" Bunch Jr., 58, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Magnolia Regional Health Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. to service time Wednesday.

William Worthey

ABERDEEN - William Talmadge Worthey, 81, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., after a long illness. He was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Nettleton to James and Lucy Worthey. He attended Nettleton High School and Itawamba Junior College. He served in the U,S, Navy for 22 years. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and retired from service in 1969 as a Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of the VFW Post 4490. After retirement, he worked in air conditioning and refrigeration and as an electrical contractor and later worked and sometimes starred in movies as a bus driver after returning to California. He was also known as "Son" to many family members, as well as "Bill," "Chief"and "Jack" to many of his friends. He was well known for his sharp wit and relentless teasing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence; sisters, Ruth (Butler/Gosa) and Lucretia "Trishi" (Nash/Plunkett); and his son, Bart.

He is survived by two sisters, Ruby (Milstead) and Jeane (McClendon), both of Aberdeen; five children, Dorinda of Joshua Tree, Calif., Susan (Michael O'Connor) of San Pedro, Calif., Cheryl (Rick Rice) of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., William II (Kathy) of Murrieta, Calif., and Brett of Carson, Calif.. 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His ashes will be scattered at sea in a service in Long Beach, Calif., in May.

Nettie Wilson

SOUTHAVEN - Nettie Morine Altman Wilson, 79, died Monday, April 30, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in Southaven. She was born Dec. 20, 1932, to Dolphus Altman and Annie Lee Altman. She graduated from Pasco High School in Dade City, Fla. She was married to Jerry Lee Wilson. After she married, they made their home in Dade City until moving to Southaven, where they lived until 1979 when they moved to Albany, Ga. She returned to Southaven in 1997. She was a homemaker, enjoyed spending time with her family, and loved camping and waterskiing. She was famous for her lemon pound cakes and banana nut bread. She was of the Baptist faith.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Chapel Hill Gardens in Dade City Fla. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at in Chapel Hill Gardens Mausoleum. Holland Funeral Directors is in charge of local arrangements. Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, Fla. will handle arrangements there.

Survivors include her two sons, Randy Wilson (Cindy) of Southaven and James "Jimbo" Wilson (Lynn), all of Southaven; two daughters, Terri Simpson (Tommy) of Tupelo and Renee Talbert (Louis) of Bartlett, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Steven Simpson and Lindsey Simpson of Tupelo, Alaina Wilson and Jamie Wilson of Southaven, Jonathan Talbert and Lee Talbert of Southaven, Josh Wilson (Amy) of Southaven, Justin Wilson (Leigh Ann) and Chris Wilson of Southaven; five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Melvin Altman and Lavon Altman; and two sisters, Jean Simmons and Lois Stephens.

Frank Elizabeth Drake

IUKA - Frank Elizabeth Drake, 93, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at her residence.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

RIPLEY - John Robert Gaillard, 70, died Sunday, April 29, 2012. He was born March 20, 1042, in Tippah County to Robert J.P. "Toosie" Gaillard and Susie Lucille Gaillard. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Bethlehem M.B. Church in Falkner. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 336. He married Callie Rogers on April 16, 1965. They had one daughter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem M.B. Church with Pastor Ray Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Ruckersville Cemetery at Falkner. Foster and Son Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlea (Kirk) McDonald of Ripley; one granddaughter, Eternity McDonald, and one grandson, Xzeavier McDonald, both of Ripley; five brothers, Elbert Eugene Gaillard of Ripley, Norman L. (Edith) Gaillard of Michigan City, Billy Earl Clinton Gaillard of Tupelo, Earnest (Jennette) Gaillard of Akins, S.C., and Donny (Chauncey) Gaillard of Eipley; four sisters, Peggie M. Gaillard of Ripley, Sara L. (Bill) Braddock of Ripley, Pansy D. R)Robert) Westbrook of Tiplersville and Shirley A. Gaillard of Ripley; three aunts, Joan Johnson, Rena Mae Edgeston and Shirley Fay (Will) Prather, all of Ripley; and a host of cousins.

He was preceded in death by uncles, Roy D. Bell, Willie T. Bell, Jphn Tate Bell, Charles Johnson and Virge Edgeston.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service time Wednesday.

Mary Banks Smith

ABERDEEN - Mary Banks Smith, 85, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Bethany House in Carthage. She was born June 25, 1926, to Ira Green Willis and Mary Etta Wiseman Willis in Cleveland. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and a member of First Baptist Church of Aberdeen. She worked as a seamstress at Monroe Kut and retired as church hostess at Aberdeen First Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. today at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery with Bro. Chris Thomas officiating. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen is in charge of the service.

Survivors include one sister, Doris King of Memphis; two brothers, William Willis (Linda) of Columbus and Richard Willis (Sara) of Aberdeen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Wallace Banks Sr.; second husband, William Garland Smith; and one son, Wallace Banks Jr.

Pallbearers will be Todd Willis, Mike Willis, Jim Reddock, Mike Bunch, Sherrell Sturdivant, Joe Wright and Robert Clyde Buchanan.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Essie Faye Pace

CORINTH - Essie Faye Woodruff Pace, 99, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, in Clearwater, Fla. She was born Sept. 14, 1912, in Prentiss County to Victor and Luzettia Woodruff. She was a housewife and a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. She lived most of her adult life in the Farmington community and recently moved to Clearwater, Fla., to near her daughter.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth with Bro. Doug Farris officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Dwight (Eulala) Pace of Springfield, Mo., Don (Marjorie) Pace of Kossuth; her daughter, Linda (Jerry) Gardner of Clearwater, Fla.; a brother, Lenius Woodruff of Burton; grandchildren, Dana Reed, Daniel Bryce (Jennifer) Haynie, Vick (Liz) Pace, Jeff Pace, Rhonda (Rick) Nelson, Nan (Steve) Jones, Lanny (Angie) Pace, Missy (Doug) Farris. 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death her husband, R.T. "True" Pace; her parents; four sisters; and four brothers.

Pallbearers will be Lanny Pace, Donnie Jones, David Farris, Ti Farris, Jerry Gardner and Steve Jones.

Peggy Greer

TUPELO - Margaret "Peggy" Greer, 56, died Monday, April 30, 2012, at her parents' residence after an extended illness. She was born March 12, 1956, in Bitburg, Germany, to William Claude Thrift and Dolly Lonas Thrift while her father was serving in the U.S. Air Force. She graduated from Tupelo High School and received her degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. She was self-employed as a land title abstractor. She studied organic foods and natural healing, enjoyed yard work, crafts of all types, including pottery, and was very artistic. She was a very private person, devoted to her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tupelo.

A celebration of life service will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Andrew Abbott, Bro. David Jenson and Mike Hurst officiating. Private burial will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Greer of Tupelo; her parents, William C. Thrift and Dolly Thrift; one son, Jeremy A. Tate of Tupelo; two stepsons, Kristopher Greer (Carla) of Tupelo and Johnathan Greer of Tupelo; one daughter, Ginny Robinson of Tupelo; sister, Terry Hurst (Mike) of Cosby, Mo.; two grandchildren, Will Robinson and Maddie Robinson; five stepgrandchildren, Angel and Zoey Greer, Eden, Lev and Mary Greer; her father-in-law, Billy J. Greer of Ripley; and brother-in-law, Jerry Greer of Guntown.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Marjorie Greer.

Juanita Funderburg

WEST POINT - Juanita Funderburg, 84, died on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Dugan Memorial Home. Born on Dec. 2, 1927, in Greenwood Springs, she was a daughter of the late Thomas M. and Sue Waycaster Roberts. She attended Greenwood Springs High School, where she played basketball. She married Perry Funderburg on June 20, 1943. An excellent seamstress with a strong work ethic, she had worked for Glenn Manufacturing and the Cloth Basket before retiring from Red Kap. Always serving others, she was a Christian lady whose walk with Christ was the driving force of her life. Formerly a member of First Baptist Church and Meadowood Baptist Church in Amory, she was a member of First Baptist Church, West Point.She enjoyed bluegrass, old country and gospel music, playing Rook, and shopping.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy Carruth and Donna Trantham, of Amory; son, Dale Funderburg (LeeAnn) of West Point; grandchildren, Andy Carruth and Daniel Carruth (Tiffany), Will and Zach Trantham, and Joshua, Emily and Abby Funderburg; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Amber, Cameron and Noah Carruth; great-great-granddaughter, Mady Buchanan; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Funderburg; sister, Colleen Dill; and brother, Thomas M. Roberts Jr.

Ruth Betts Vickers

AUSTELL, Ga. - Ruth Betts Vickers, 95, died Sunday, April 29, 2912, at Tranquility Hospice in Austell, Ga. She lived in the Starkville area most of her life. She was married to Thurman Betts until he died in 1982. During those years she was a wife, mother and homemaker. In 1984 she married Paul J. Vickers. They were married for 15 years and lived in Cedar Bluff until his death in 1999. She then moved to Georgia in 2009 to live with her daughter, Bobbie.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Smith and the Rev. Payton Myers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park in Starkville. Robinson Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by her daughters, Bobbie McAdams of Acworth, Ga., Donnelle Smith of Leesburg, Fla.; five grandchildren,eight great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, George Vickers, Carolyn Lott and Douglas Vickers; several stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and a stepgreat-great-grandchild; and a brother, Paul Cloyce Ferguson of Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands and a son Wayne Betts.

Sylvia Buchanan

MERIDIAN - Sylvia Katherine Buchanan, 84, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Medical Center. She was a native of Aberdeen and grew up in the Wren community. She married Charles "Buck"Buchanan in 1947. She loved spending time with her family and working in her church. For the past 40 years she was employed as financial secretary for Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church with Dr. John Temple and the Rev. James Ruffin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, Charles "Buck" Buchanan of Meridian; her children, Bill (Jan) Buchanan of Brandon, Perry (Suzanne) Buchanan of Longwood, Fla., and Alan (Cassandra) Buchanan of Magnolia, Texas; five grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Scott White, Bryan Temple, Wade Allen, Mike Sterling, Ken Covington and Josh Thompson.

Jearlean Murphree

TUPELO - Jearlean Murphree, 80, died Monday, April 30, 2012, at her residence. She was born July 21, 1931, in Lee County to Clarence Lee and Dewdrop Burleson Hardin. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary for several years. She was involved with the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Gospel Group and traveled extensively with them. She retired after many years of service to Action Industries. She was an avid reader in her later years and found great enjoyment in sharing her books, especially with the residents of Baldwyn Nursing Home. She loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and spent many hours socializing with her siblings.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Wexford Parmer officiating. Burial will be in Palmetto Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Brackeen (Wayne) of Jackson, Tenn., and Mary Murphree of Tupelo; grandchildren, Michelle and Jonathan Murphree, both of Augusta, Ga., Courtney Brackeen of Bellevue, Tenn., Christopher and Charlie Brackeen, both of Jackson, Tenn.; one sister, Doris Hood (Gene) of Tupelo; one brother, Thurman Hardin (Betty) of Verona.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Elvis Murphree; her father, Clarence Hardin; her mother, Dewdrop Burleson Stone and step-father, Clyde Stone; her son, Russell Murphree; and granddaughter, Mandie Murphree.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Murphree, Christopher, Charlie and Wayne Brackeen, Bobby Norris and Perry Lansdell.

RIPLEY - Charlotte Smith Bullock, 73, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Ripley. She was born July 28, 1938, to Melvin R. and Ruby Jewel Tigrett Smith. She was a member of Chapman Church of Christ and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a business owner and operator of Bullocks Store.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Mark Lindley officiating. Burial will be in Box Chapel Cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Rickie Bullock (Sonya) of Booneville and Mickey Bullock of Ripley; and one granddaughter, Casey Bullock of Ripley.

Pallbearers will be Reed Bullock, Shannon Carpenter, Brian Clark, Joey Gross, Michael Smith, Michael Criswell, Brad Brooks, Brian Grant and Brandon Crawford. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Shackelford, Buster Green and Billy Ledbetter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Tooter" Bullock; her parents; and one brother, Glen Smith.

TUPELO - Debra Edwards, 59, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 24, 1952, to Dow and Orene Addington of Amory. She was a nurse for 30 years and a Sunday school teacher at Traceland Missionary Baptist Church for 20 years. She was a caring and compassionate nurse who loved teaching diabetic and Rehab patients. She very much enjoyed traveling, fishing, and macramampé. She loved her grandchildren, and her two dogs, Hannah and Freckles.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Charles Faust officiating. Burial will follow in Verona City Cemetery.

Her survivors include her husband of 32 years, Jerry, of Tupelo; two sons, Terry Scott Addington of the USAF, serving in Afghanistan, and Gary Lance McFarling (Kalie) of Amory; one sister, Audrey Oatsvall (Tommy) of Camden, Tenn.; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Addington, Nathan and Brandon Morris, Jeff Oatsvall, William Crump and Keith Murphy. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Crump, Austin McFarling, Mitch Tucker and Jeffery Dobb.

MEMPHIS - James Lowell Stafford, 65, died Thursday, April 27, 2012. He was a decorated veteran, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the Shrine Summer Ave. Lodge 729 of Memphis.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Dymond of Memphis; two daughters, Debbi Pollard (Reggie) of Anaheim, Calif., and Ashley Allen (Nathan) of Kea'au, Hawaii; two grandsons, Trevor Pollard of Anaheim, Calif., and Noa Allen of Kea'au; one granddaughter, Alana Allen of, Kea'au; one sister, Wendy Ward (Larry) of Randolph; two brothers, Scott Sweet (Elinor), of Randolph and Clark Sweet of Spokane, Wash.; two stepchildren, Glena Dymond (Dean) of St. Joe, Mo., and Jackie Dymond (Joyce) of Gillette, Wyo.; three nephews, five nieces and 29 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Mac and Jimmie Ruth Sweet; and his nephew, Bo Tutor.

ATHENS, AL. - Jack Thomas Yarber Sr. died Sunday, April 29, 2012, in Huntsville, Ala. He was a native of Belmont and was owner of several automobile dealerships.

Survivors are a son, Jack Yarber Jr. (Joan) of Florence, Ala.; a daughter, Sally Yarber Davis of Florence, Ala.; one grandson, Brandon Yarber Davis (Robin) of Killen, Ala.; two granddaughters, Nikki Yarber and Megan Yarber, both of Florence, Ala.; two great-grandchildren, Brinlea Davis and Piper Davis; one brother, Lealon Yarber (Mabeline) of Belmont; special niece, Emily Yarber Hutcheson (Max Ray) of Belmont, Ms.; special great-niece, Leah Tucker; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Hallie Yarber;two sisters, Opal Creel and Ripple Smith; and a special nephew, Pat Yarber.

He will be honored in a private memorial service.

Irma Davis

OKOLONA - Irma Davis, 93, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Shearer-Richardson Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 5, 1918, in Shubuta to William Jessie and Winifred Walters. She was a longtime tax preparer for Hamp&R Block. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Okolona. She enjoyed baseball games, flowers, and visiting and talking to others.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Okolona with Bro. Ray Ingulia officiating. Burial will be in East Chickasaw Memorial Gardens. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Dianne Davis of Okolona; one sister, Jean Waite of Normandy, Tenn.; one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Jean McGary; one brother and four sisters.

Charles Blaydes COUNCE, Tenn. - Charles Blaydes, 80, formerly of Memphis, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at his home in Counce, Tenn. He was a graduate of Memphis State, a retired engineer for Intentional Harvester and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home in Corinth.

He is survived by his son, Steve Blaydes of Germantown, Tenn.; his daughters, Sherry Newman of Somerville, Tenn., Alta Dillon of Oklahoma City, Okla., Karen McDaniel of Olive Branch and Frances Young of Boston, Mass.; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, and grandson, Nick Young.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

BRUCE - Dario Shunkeith Moore, 21, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, in Walnut Grove.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Light House Church of God in Christ in Bruce. Burial will be in Zion Springs Cemetery in Bruce. Belle Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
