Original blog post: Police are investigating a shooting incident with "multiple victims" late Saturday at an apartment complex near the Auburn University campus. A late report from a Montgomery TV reporter said that eight people were shot and at least one was killed.
(Update: A Birmingham TV station reported at about 3:30 a.m. that three people were killed.)
There were multiple reports, including one from the Auburn student newspaper, that some of the victims were current or former Auburn football players.
A briefing from Auburn police is expected before noon on Sunday.

The Montgomery TV station WSFA is doing some good reporting from the scene and is updating its story here. Reporter Samuel King (Twitter: @sdking1) reports that a party at the apartment's clubhouse was disrupted by a dispute, which escalated into a violent outburst.
