By NEMS Daily Journal

Fifteen basketball teams from the Daily Journal’s circulation area are headed to the MHSAA championships after victories on Friday night.
All teams play again tonight to determine seeding for the state tourney, which tips off next Friday in Jackson.
One much-anticipated matchup won’t happen. The Class 4A Lanier girls saw their 57-game winnings streak ended in a 40-36 overtime loss to Center Hill, which faces host Oxford (30-0) tonight.
Head-to-head matchups of area teams on tonight’s schedule:
4A girls: Pontotoc-Lafayette

3A girls: Belmont-Ripley

3A boys: Booneville-Aberdeen

2A girls: New Site-Walnut

One notable Friday loss: Shannon fell 54-52 at home to the state’s top-ranked 4A boys team, Amanda Elzy, which plays Corinth tonight.
Also advancing to Jackson: Tupelo boys, Starkville boys, Baldwyn boys and H.W. Byers girls.
