3 notes and a quote: Ole Miss vs. Arkansas

By Parrish Alford/NEMS Daily Journal

OXFORD – Ole Miss needed a win over Arkansas to get to 4-0 in the SEC, but wins over Arkansas have been quite common for the Rebels of late.
Saturday’s 76-64 victory is the sixth straight in the series for Ole Miss, the ninth in the last 10 games and the 22nd in the last 30 games.
Arkansas coach Mike Anderson said he believes that Ole Miss dominance in the series will eventually run its course.
“It will change, it will change. If you look at their team, this is his (seventh) year, and he’s got some veteran players. Look at the guys that made the plays for them.”
A long-time Arkansas assistant before coaching at UAB and Missouri, Anderson is in his second year with the Razorbacks.

Williams adjusting
Ole Miss guard Nick Williams said it’s taken some time for him to get used to coming off the bench, but he’s adjusting to his new role.
His 14 points were his most since coming out of the bullpen for the first time against Fordham.
Williams says the Rebels understand the importance of staying focused.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to do something great here, and we know what we have to do. We’ve been so close for so long,” he said.

Player of the game
Jarvis Summers’ five turnovers were a season-high, but so were his seven assists. He scored 14 points on 6 for 11 shooting and is averaging 14 points in SEC play.
Quotable
“We’re just happy. We’ve waited so long just to be relevant. We still have to be hungry. Instead of trying to be … we’ve just got to stay hungry.” – Ole Miss forward Murphy Holloway

Next game
The Rebels return home Thursday for a 6 p.m., tip against Tennessee. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
