The Tupelo 49ers capped off an impressive weekend on Sunday with a 7-0 win over the Memphis Tigers in the championship game of the St. Jude Classic in Memphis.
Cody Shrewsbury and Channing Nanney paced the 49ers at the plate, combining to go 4 for 8 with two home runs, 2 RBIs and three runs scored.
Dillon Mitchell (1-1) earned the win on the mound, allowing five hits 5 1/3 scoreless innings, while striking out three and walking none. Bronson Smith finished the final 1 2/3 innings in relief, allowing three hits and striking out two.
Tupelo went 4-0-1 over the three-day tournament.
The 49ers will travel to Starkville on Tuesday for their next games, taking on Pontotoc at 9:30 a.m. and Memphis at noon in a one day pool-play tournament at MSU’s Dudy Noble field.
