After Jefferson City (23-9) scored in the first inning, Tupelo (22-12) responded in the bottom of the second with back-to-back doubles by Itawamba Community College signee Ty Wheeler from Tupelo and Cody Pate from Amory. Then in the fifth, Tucker Jenkins of Baldwyn reached base, scoring on a double by Chase Cernigliaro of Tupelo.
Because of weather, there has been a change to Tupelo’s second game of the double-elimination tournament, against Columbia, Tennessee. The starting time has been pushed back to around 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Also, the location has been moved for today to the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.
