Defending national champion Alabama is likely to remain at the top of The Associated Press football poll when it’s made public today. The APs media voters had the Crimson Tide as its unanimous selection last season after a 14-0 campaign.
The USA Today coaches poll, released recently, had Alabama as its overwhelming No.1 team, although the Tide will have to replace nine starters on defense.
In the preseason coaches poll, Ohio State was No. 2 and Florida was No. 3.
A year ago, Florida was No.1 and Texas No. 2 in both major polls, with Alabama No. 5.
Ole Miss visits Alabama on Oct. 16 and Mississippi State visits on Nov. 13.
