Alexander inks recruit from Itawamba AHS

Booneville – NEMCC’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach Brian Alexander has landed another big recruit to add to his signing list with the signing of Quay Dunn.

In a signing ceremony held at Itawamba Agricultural High School on Wednesday, May 15, Dunn inked with the Lady Tigers in front of a large group of proud supporters.

“I am excited to add Quay to our 2013 recruiting class, Alexander said. “She brings athleticism and toughness to our inside game. Quay is an outstanding person and student-athlete who posesses the potential to develop into a big-time player for the Lady Tigers.”

Dunn averaged 13.3 points per game during her senior campaign to go along with 6.5 rebounds and was a 72-percent free throw shooter.

Dunn helped lead the Lady Indians to a 19-10 overall record and finished 8-2 in the division.

During Dunn’s freshman year she was voted “Newcomer of the Year” and continued to add to her portfolio with the “Offensive Player of the Year” award her sophomore year and did it again her junior season to go along with her All-Division selection and was named the Itawamba Player of the Week twice.

Dunn’s also received the All-Division team honor her senior year while picking up Co-Most Valuable Player, Best Free Throw Percentage Award and Most Steals and Deflections award.

“Coach Morrow, along with Coach McKinney, are two of the most respected coaches in our region because of their work ethic and integrity,” Alexander added. “They are excellent coaches who also direct these student-athletes off the court as well.”
