Mississippi State catcher Nick Ammirati was named the SEC player of the week, while Ole Miss hurler Bobby Wahl earned co-pitcher of the week honors, the league announced Monday.
Ammirati, a senior, was 6 of 11 at the plate with three RBIs in MSU’s
series win against Auburn.
Ammirati, who is batting .321 on the season, also threw out a pair of baserunners and handling a pitching staff that recorded a 1.33 ERA on the weekend.
Wahl, a junior righthander, threw his first career complete game, shutting out Tennessee on Friday to spark what would be a three-game sweep for Ole Miss.
Wahl (8-0, 1.22 ERA) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finished with eight strikeouts.
LSU’s Austin Nola shared the weekly pitching honor with Wahl.
