A new champion will be crowned in the Butch Lambert Invitational at Natchez Trace Golf Club this weekend.
The 36-hole, stroke-play tournament kicks off this morning. Three-time defending champion Lan Gooch will not be in the field, leaving the championship flight open for a host of players, including 2004 champion and Tupelo High School golf coach Mark Enis.
“We’ve got a lot of really good, strong players,” Gooch said. “I think we’ve got 15 to 20 golfers with a chance to win.”
The first group tees off at 8:10 a.m.
