There’s at least the potential for a third Ole Miss-Mississippi State matchup this season, but the struggling Bulldogs will have to snap a losing streak that has now reached 13 games.
MSU (13-18) plays Vanderbilt on Wednesday night in Atlanta in a game that will tip after 8 p.m. Auburn plays South Carolina to open the tourney at 6 p.m.
The MSU-Vandy winner advances to play on Thursday against Ole Miss (18-13). That game will also tip off after 8 p.m., with the winner advancing to play Georgia in Friday’s quarterfinals.
MSU beat Ole Miss 76-72 on Jan. 11 as the Rebels’ Marshall Henderson sat out due to a suspension. Ole Miss won the rematch, 82-63 in Oxford on Jan. 25.
It would be the first neutral-court meeting between the Bulldogs and Rebels since 2003, when the Bulldogs won 73-64 in an SEC tourney game in New Orleans.
