Atkins signs with the ICC Lady Indians softball team

ICC head softball coach Chad Case continues to restock the North Division Champion Lady Indians’ roster with power as he announced Heritage Academy ace pitcher Kristyn Atkins as the newest member of the team on Friday.

“I’m really excited because this is something I’ve always wanted and have worked really hard for and glad I finally got it,” said Atkins about signing with ICC.

Atkins played two seasons with the New Hope Lady Trojans before transferring to Heritage Academy.

During her two seasons as a Lady Trojan she was a two-time All-District selection, was named Clarion Ledger Player of the Week and finished with a school-record of 24 wins and four loses from the circle as a sophomore.

“I’m going to try to work on improving my speed and get more movement in my pitches,” Atkins said about improving her game at ICC next season.

The multi-sport standout was a two-time All-Conference player at Heritage Academy earning Best Offensive and Defensive player awards and batted .383 during her final campaign on the diamond with the Lady Patriots.

“Kristyn is going to add some much needed depth to our pitching staff,” said Case. “Being this late in the recruiting process we are very pleased and hope she has an immediate impact on the team.”

Kristyn is the daughter of Chris and Carol Atkins of Columbus.
