Baldwyn golfer Clayton Gray, 15, will compete against the world’s top golfers in his age division this weekend at the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships in West Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Gray, a member of Baldwyn High School’s two-time defending state championship golf team, qualified for the tournament with wins in state and regional events. He won the state agae 14-15 division in May in Starkville and won the Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana regional in June in Hattiesburg.
A 105-player field, representing 35 countries, is scheduled to participate in the 54-hole event scheduled for Saturday-Monday at the PGA National Resort and Spa.
“He’s looking forward to competing,” Baldwyn coach Michael Gray, Clayton’s father, said. “It should be fun.”
