Ole Miss and Mississippi State will square off early this coming basketball season.

The SEC’s 2013-14 schedule was released Tuesday, along with game times and TV information. The Rebels and Bulldogs will first clash on Saturday, Jan. 11 in Starkville, at 3 p.m. on ESPNU. Two weeks later, they meet in Oxford for another 3 p.m. tipoff on the syndicated SEC Network.

Ole Miss is coming off a 27-9 season, in which it captured the SEC Tournament title and won one game in the NCAA tournament. It split last season’s games with MSU, winning 93-75 at home and losing 73-67 in Starkville.
Andy Kennedy, who’s in his eighth year as head coach, will see his team open SEC play at home for just the third time, against Auburn on Thursday, Jan. 9.

Other notable home games come against Kentucky (Feb. 18), Florida (Feb. 22) and Vanderbilt (March 8).
other big matchups

Aside from MSU, Ole Miss will square off twice each against Alabama, Kentucky, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

MSU, which went 10-22 last year under new coach Rick Ray, opens its SEC slate at Kentucky on Jan. 8. State also plays host to the Wildcats on Feb. 8, marking the first time since 1991 the teams have met twice in the regular season. That was the year before the SEC expanded to 12 teams and split into divisions.

The divisional setup was done away with for the 2011-12 season, and with the league having expanded to 14 teams last year, each team plays an 18-game league schedule.

In addition to UK and Ole Miss, MSU plays Auburn, Georgia and Texas A&M twice apiece.

The regular season concludes March 8, with the SEC Tournament scheduled for March 12-16 in Atlanta.
