“I thought the difference in the basketball game was our kids did an exceptional job of blocking out and getting rebounds and limiting Bruce to one shot,” Baldwyn coach Jason McKay said.

The Bearcats will play Coahoma AHS tonight at 6, with a berth to the state tournament on the line.

Duke Upshaw led the Bearcats with 21 points. Romaro Crump and freshman Felix Hayes scored 13 each.

Bruce was led by Tae Armstrong and Malik Hobson with eight points each.

“Huge challenge,” McKay said. “We sat here and watched them, tremendous at shooting, driving, good post players that get rebounds.”

New Site 56, Simmons 47: New Site ‘s shocking run continues. Josh Knight scored a game-high 27 points, two nights after his 21 against Coahoma County led to the Royals’ to only their second Tuesday win since 1979. Riley Ivy had 13.
