Belmont’s Alexander among 40 finalists for USA 14U team

DURHAM, N.C. – Luke Alexander is certainly among the nation’s best young baseball players.
In the coming weeks, he hopes to be among the 18 players chosen for the 2010 USA Baseball 14U National Team.
The Belmont Middle School student will be among 40 players vying for a spot on the 2010 USA Baseball 14U National team next month at the National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. An outfielder, Alexander will take part in the 14U National Team Trials on July 13-17.
He was one of 23 players selected from the 2009 National Team Identification Series to participate in next month’s trials. The 17 remaining finalists were chosen from the 2010 14U Championships that were held in Fort Myers, Fla., and Glendale, Surprise and Peoria, Ariz.
The USA Baseball 14U National Team will compete in the COPABE Pan Am ‘A’ 14U Championships in Managua, Nicaragua, July 23-Aug. 1.
