Ole Miss scored six runs in the fourth inning – four unearned – to turn away Murray State 8-5 on Wednesday at Swayze Field ahead of a weekend series with Mississippi State.
The Thouroughbreds went up 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning before the Rebels answered. Branley Bell drove in a run with a single up the middle and John Gatlin brought home a run with a fielder’s choice to make the score 3-2. After Murray State misplayed a two-out ball up the middle to allow the tying run to score, Auston Bousfiled drove in a run with a bunt for a base hit and Austin Anderson followed with a two-run single.
The weekend series in Starkville starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
