BLUE MOUNTAIN – Sporting a new team logo and Web site, the Blue Mountain College athletics department introduced its new look Tuesday.
The Toppers’ new logo is a sleeker, more colorful and more aggressive looking ram’s head.
BMC’s new athletics Web site – www.bmcsports.com – and it includes links to Facebook, Twitter, RSS news feeds, a blog site, and the TranSouth Athletic Conference.
“This is all a part of our enhanced marketing plan,” said Lavon Driskell, athletics director and women’s basketball coach. Driskell noted the college has introduced three sports in the past three years and will add baseball and softball in 2010-2011.
“We really needed the upgraded Web site as a communications tool for our fan base and for our conference. It’s much easier now to keep the site updated.
“Our new logo gives us a much fresher brand that will easily be identified with Blue Mountain College athletics.”
David Harrell, who recently joined the BMC staff as Web site and visual communications specialist, designed the logo and the Web site.
“The new Web site is a very important means of keeping in touch with our fans, players and coaches,” Harrell said.
“We’ve streamlined the site and made it much more user-friendly, and it’s already beginning to pay off for us. The number of fans on our Facebook page, for instance, has quadrupled since we established our account a little over week ago, and we don’t see it slowing down any time soon.”
