Blue Mountain College guard Shane Butler was named to the TranSouth Athletic Conference
men’s All-Freshman basketball team on Tuesday.
Butler, former standout at Tupelo High School, averages 10.6 points a game for the Toppers.
He is currently shooting 43.4 percent from the field, including 31.4 percent from three-point range and 74.1 percent from the free throw line.
Butler is also averaging 2.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists.
“Shane is very deserving of this honor,” said BMC coach J.D. Parker. “He was clearly one of the best freshmen in the league this season and he had a really strong year.”
The Toppers (7-21 and 0-16 TSAC) will face No. 6 Martin Methodist on Thursday in the opening round of the conference tournament in Pulaski, Tenn.
