ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Tim Corcoran threw solid five innings in his first start of the season and Rocco Baldelli had a run-scoring triple as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays beat the Atlanta Braves 3-2 on Saturday night.

Corcoran (1-0) gave up one run and four hits for his first major league-win, coming in his second career start. He was inserted into the rotation after the Devil Rays optioned Seth McClung to Triple-A Durham Tuesday, a move designed to convert the right-hander from a starter to a closer.

McClung threw two perfect innings, including two strikeouts, in his first outing with Durham on Saturday.

Baldelli’s RBI triple made it 3-1 in the sixth, helping the Devil Rays improve to 9-2 in interleague play this season.

Chad Harville pitched the final 1 2-3 innings for his second career save.

Matt Diaz got the Braves within 3-2 on a pinch-hit RBI double in the seventh. He is 7-for-19, and has five RBIs as a pinch-hitter this year.

Lance Cormier (2-3) made his second start this season for the Braves, allowing three runs and 11 hits in 5 2-3 innings. Atlanta, which snapped a 10-game losing streak Friday, has lost 21 of 25.

Tampa Bay loaded the bases with no outs in the first, but scored only once when Jorge Cantu hit into a double play. The Braves tied it at 1 on Adam LaRoche’s RBI double one inning later.

Aubrey Huff put the Devil Rays ahead 2-1 in the fifth with a sacrifice fly.

Tampa Bay has had 10 hits or more in 11 of the past 15 games. The Devil Rays left 11 runners on base through six innings.

Atlanta’s Chipper Jones stopped an 0-for-14 slide with a single in the sixth. He also singled in the eighth and finished 2-for-3 with a walk.
