Mississippi State will try to stay dry when it hosts Sacred Heart for a three-game series starting today.
The Bulldogs (10-3) had two midweek games postponed to later dates because of weather, and last weekend’s schedule was shuffled around because of rain. The forecast for this weekend calls for lots of sunshine.
Today’s game starts at 5 p.m., with junior Devin Jones (1-2, 1.86 ERA) to take the mound for MSU opposite Sacred Heart sophomore Troy Scribner (2-0, 4.50). Sophomore Chris Stratton (3-0, 0.44) is slated to pitch Saturday for MSU, while freshman Evan Mitchell (3-0, 2.45) will go Sunday.
State is led at the plate by senior catcher Cody Freeman, whose .421 average ranks eighth in the SEC. Senior shortstop Jonathan Ogden is batting .400, while freshman C.T. Bradford checks in at .340 and leads the team with seven multi-hit games.
