Bulldogs begin scout team work

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State has started preparations for its season opener against Memphis.
Coach Dan Mullen said following Wednesday’s practice that the Bulldogs had begun scout team work.
“I like our tempo at practice,” Mullen said. “They slowed down a little bit with a lot of work with the scout teams for the first time. It slows down a little bit, but we’ll get it back, we’ll get used to practicing this way.”
There might have been a shake-up on the offensive line. Center J.C. Brignone indicated that redshirt freshman Gabe Jackson was getting first-team snaps at left guard instead of junior Quentin Saulsberry, who started all 12 games there last season.
“He’s taken big strides, to go from a scout team player last year to a starter, that’s big-time for a freshman,” Brignone said. “I think he’s taken on the responsibility and done very well with it.”
