Bulldogs blank Florida State in opening round of NCAA tennis

ATLANTA – The No. 21 Mississippi State men’s tennis team opened play in the NCAA Championships on Friday by knocking off Florida State 4-0.
The Bulldogs (14-8) face No. 15 Georgia Tech today at 3 p.m. The winner advances to the Sweet Sixteen.
Mississippi State claimed both points in doubles play with the tandem of James Chaudry and Zach White winning five consecutive games to defeat Anderson Reed and Andres Bucaro 8-5.
In singles action, Bulldog freshman Malte Stropp won his 12th consecutive match by ousting Connor Smith 6-3, 6-4, while Louis Cant defeated Reed 6-4, 6-0.
