Bulldogs host Jags in regional rematch; Rebs battle Memphis

baseball_icon_greenNo. 12 Mississippi State welcomes a familiar foe in South Alabama to Dudy Noble Field at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

The two teams battled on two different occasions last season with the Diamond Dogs coming out on top in both. MSU won 6-4 in midweek action in Mobile and also downed the Jaguars 6-2 in the Starkville NCAA Regional.

The Bulldogs hold a 43-24 lead in the series overall.

State (10-4) has won six straight games including a four-game weekend sweep of Michigan State and Eastern Illinois in the Diamond Classic over the weekend.

USA (5-5) took two of three at Arkansas last weekend and played at Jackson State last night.

Mississippi State will send sophomore right-hander Preston Brown (1-0, 1.50 ERA) to the mound while the Jaguars have not announced a starting pitcher.

Ole Miss

OXFORD – The Ole Miss baseball team is back in action tonight against Memphis.

First pitch at Swayze Field is 6:30.

The Rebels (11-1) are coming off a weekend sweep of Central Florida and have won five straight, four of them in walk-off fashion.

Ole Miss entered the Baseball America top 25 this week at No. 25.

Memphis’ 10-1 start includes a 6-4 win at Mississippi State on Feb. 19.

The Tigers defeated Ole Miss twice last season.
