Bulldogs, Rebels in Iowa for NCAA Championships

Ole Miss and Mississippi State will both be vying for titles
eight events in the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships,
which begin today in Des Moines, Iowa.
Six Rebels will compete over the next four days at Drake Stadium,
including high jumper and triple jumper Ricky Robertson,
who was the national runner-up a year ago in the high jump.
Coach Joe Walker will be coaching his final meet after 30 years at the
helm, and his men are ranked No. 14 in the country.
MSU has 12 athletes competing this week, and the men are
coming off their best SEC finish in 23 years. The Bulldogs are
expected to do well, as usual, in the 4×100-meter and 4×400-
meter relays. Sophomore Tavaris Tate will run in both events for State.
On the women’s side, Favian Cowards will compete in the
hammer throw – she won the SEC indoor title in that event.
Saturday’s competition will be televised by ESPNU.
