Bulldogs upset No. 6 Vols, salvage last game of series

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Mississippi State scored three runs in the second inning en route to a 3-2 upset of No. 6 Tennessee on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (23-26, 9-13 SEC) salvaged the final game of the series and snapped Tennessee’ (41-7, 17-5) 12-game win streak.
Briana Bell sparked Mississippi State in the second frame with a two run double, while Ka’ili Smith added an RBI-single.
Bulldog sophomore Stephanie Becker tossed the complete game and held the Volunteers scoreless over the final five innings.
Mississippi State wraps up its home schedule next weekend by hosting LSU in a three-game series.
