Eli Whiteside, the veteran big-league catcher from New Albany, is on the move again.
The Toronto Blue Jays claimed Whiteside off waivers on Monday, as the Yankees – who claimed him off waivers from the Giants in early November – tried to move him off their 40-man roster and down to the minors.
Now the Blue Jays have claimed Whiteside, assuming his $625,000 contract and putting him on their 40-man roster.
The 33-year-old Whiteside is a career .215 hitter.
