Celtics waive former Northeast star

BOSTON – Qyntel Woods, the former Northeast Mississippi Community College star, was waived Tuesday by the Boston Celtics.

Woods, a Memphis native, was acquired by the Celtics in a 13-player trade involving Miami, Memphis, New Orleans and Utah on Aug. 2.

After a stellar career at Northeast, the 6-foot-8 Woods was a 2002 draft pick by Portland. Woods played last season at Miami. He has played in 118 games and scored 362 career-points.
