Aberdeen’s defense is as good as its offense that averages more than 44 points per game. The defense, led by tackle Channing Ward’s 110 tackles and 12 sacks hasn’t allowed an opponent to score more than 14 points this season. The offense is paced by Victor Hodges’ 1,856 yards and 31 TDs. … “The running back is so good. It’s just a difficult team to play, whether it’s the second time or not in a year,” said Winona coach Ken Chandler. The defense held high-scoring Belmont to 14 points last week and also features Jonnie McMillian’s 102 tackles and 5 sacks and Justin Lucas’ 83 tackles and 4 sacks.
Ole Miss-committed back Chief Brown was held to 52 yards in the Oct. loss but is only 74 shy of 2,000 on the season and has scored 23 touchdowns. QB Nick Glover is a run threat as well, gaining 730 yards on 126 carries thus far. …Defensively, Tyler Wiltshire has a team-high 133 tackles from his linebacker spot. … OLB Isiah Coker is out for the second straight week. …Aberdeen coach Chris Duncan says he has no problems with his top-ranked team having to go on the road. … “We’re excited to have the opportunity to play. We’re the last two in the North. Everybody else is at home. We’re excited to have the opportunity.”
