College Track – Ole Miss, MSU take home wins at Mississippi Open

OXFORD – Ole Miss posted 10 individual victories, while Mississippi State had six at the Mississippi Open on Saturday.
Leading the way for the 22nd-ranked Ole Miss men’s team was the 400–meter hurdler tandem of senior Lee Ellis Moore and junior Carson Blanks, who entered the weekend fourth and sixth in the nation, respectively.
Moore ran a season-best 49.82 to claim the event title on Saturday, while Blanks finished second with a time of 51.19.
Ed Wesela led the Bulldogs with two wins. The junior claimed the top prize in the shot put and discus. MSU freshman Michael Clark brought home a
victory in the 5000m run (15:29.08).
On the women’s side, Ole Miss senior Sofie Persson, already the school record holder in the 400 meter hurdlers, posted a season-best time of 57.77. She bettered her previous mark of 58.01.
Rochelle Farquharson was the top finisher for the Lady Bulldogs. The freshman took top prize in the long jump (20-073⁄4) ahead of teammate Sojourner Ewing who finished fifth (18-111⁄4).
