Big Friday for MSU – and for High Schools

It’s the first Friday of the high school football season – although not the first day – so let me start by saying you need to make sure to pick up a copy of today’s Journal if you haven’t already. Inside you’ll find our annual high school Football Journal, which includes previews of all 49 teams in our coverage area. It’s your best resource as your favorite team kicks off a new season.

Now, back to the college game – and by the way, our college football tab comes out Sunday, Aug. 28. I’m nearly done with my stories, which will include a feature on WR Chad Bumphis and a column comparing the expectations entering the 2008 season with those of this year.

From today’s paper is a practice update, which is really more of a look ahead to tonight’s closed scrimmage, the first of camp for MSU. If you missed it last night, here is some video of Dan Mullen talking about it.

I will not, of course, be in Starkville tonight, because I’ll be helping out with high school football. But we’ll eventually get Mullen’s thoughts on how things went at Davis Wade Stadium.
