On the Links: Drafting Cox; Bulldogs Host Rebels

Thursday was a big day for Fletcher Cox, who was drafted by Philadelphia with the 12th overall pick of the NFL Draft. I’ve got plenty of coverage here for you.

• My story in today’s Journal (CLICK HERE)

• From The (Philadelphia) Inquirer, the Eagles weren’t expecting Cox to fall that far (CLICK HERE), but he’s exactly who they wanted (CLICK HERE).

• Also from the Inquirer, Cox looks like a good fit in the Eagles’ defensive schems (CLICK HERE).

The draft continues today with rounds two and three. The last four rounds are Saturday, and that’s where you’re likely to see former Bulldogs Vick Ballard and Charles Mitchell get taken.

OK, I’ve got other stuff to link up. A big baseball weekend is upon us, as MSU (25-16, 8-10 SEC) hosts No. 18 Ole Miss (27-14, 9-9). The Bulldogs are trying to find an offensive flow by working on hitting the ball to the center of the field (CLICK HERE).

An example I used in the story was that of sophomore outfielder Hunter Renfroe, a pull hitter who’s struggling to adjust his approach. Once he figures it out, though, coach John Cohen expects Renfroe to be a special hitter.

“What’s going to happen with Hunter eventually is, mentally, his IQ as a hitter is going to meet up with his physical abilities,” Cohen said. “When those things come together, he’s going to be phenomenal.”

From the Ole Miss side, my man Parrish Alford has a story on pitcher Hawtin Buchanan (CLICK HERE).
