Rick Stansbury appears to have filled out his 2011 signing class. GenesPage.com is reporting tonight that the Bulldogs will sign Shawn Long, a 6-foot-10, 225-pound forward from Morgan City (La.) High School.
Long made a verbal commitment today and could sign on Monday, the story said. He would become the fifth member of this class, joining Okolona’s D.J. Gardner, Meridian’s Rodney Hood, Montgomery (Ala.) Carver’s Roquez Johnson and Callaway’s Deville Smith.
And it would also mean MSU is at its 13-scholarship limit for the 2011-12 season – eight scholarship players are set to return from this past season, when the Bulldogs went 17-14 and missed the postseason for only the third time in Stansbury’s 13 years at the helm.
Long averaged 22.4 points, 15.0 rebounds and 9.0 blocks per game last season for Morgan City.
I’ve left a voicemail with Morgan City coach Jeremy Whittington.
