Good news for MSU’s baseball team: Sophomore left-hander Nick Routt had a promising MRI yesterday on his throwing arm, and he could be back in action as soon as next week. That’s according to Butch Thompson, the MSU pitching coach. He was a guest today on the weekly radio show I do with Parrish Alford, “The Sports Zone,” which airs at 5 p.m. on 91.7 and 90.9 FM out of Tupelo.
Thompson said Routt “had a great MRI yesterday,” his second MRI since hurting his arm two weeks ago at Florida. Thompson said Routt will have a physical today and should begin throwing again tomorrow. And he could be back in the pitching mix by next week, though in what capacity is not yet known.
Routt is 1-1 with a 6.52 ERA in six starts this season. More to come.
