Three more Mississippi State football players were taken in the NFL Draft today, the final day of the seven-round event. With offensive lineman Derek Sherrod going to Green Bay in the first round, that makes four Bulldogs, the school’s highest total since 2001, when four were also drafted.
• Outside linebacker K.J. Wright went to Seattle with the second pick of the fourth round, 99th overall.
• Defensive end Pernell McPhee was taken by Baltimore with the 34th pick of the fifth round, 165th overall.
• Inside linebacker Chris White was selected by Buffalo with the fourth pick of the sixth round, 169th overall.
It was an extra-special day for Wright, who learned of his NFL destination during commencement exercises this morning. I’ve left a message with Wright, who I’m sure is a very busy man right now.
