We got to speak with a couple of MSU football players this afternoon, cornerback Johnthan Banks and quarterback Tyler Russell. And I shot video, so you can check that out below.

For Russell, CLICK HERE.
I’ll have plenty from these guys in the coming days, including a feature on Russell in Sunday’s Journal. We talked with him a lot about this being his time as the main QB and the patience he’s had in three years here. We talked to Banks a lot about handling the preseason hype and what he expects of himself this fall.
We also spoke with strength and conditioning coach Matt Balis, and I’ll have something from that later.
• We learned today that sophomore tight end Malcolm Johnson suffered an undisclosed injury over the weekend. All a team spokesman would tell us is that it’s not football-related. No word on the severity, but from what I’ve heard it doesn’t sound good.
Johnson had 11 catches for 206 yards and three touchdowns as a redshirt freshman and was set to be the full-time starter this fall.
I’ll keep you posted. Makes the return of Marcus Green suddenly very critical, eh?
