Ole Miss has an opportunity to pick up a win against a solid RPI opponent tonight when Florida visits for a 6 p.m. tip. The Rebels are No. 34 in the RPI, the Gators No. 36.
Looking ahead, the Rebels host South Carolina Saturday night at 6. The Gamecocks have struggled this season but picked up a big win last year.
This SEC roundup item is from the blog of John Clay of the Lexington Herald-Leader:
South Carolina 56, Alabama 54: South Carolina picked up its first win of the conference season by dealing Bama a devastating blow in Columbia. Bruce Ellington hit a running bank shot with 1.3 seconds left to put a frown on the face of Tide coach Anthony Grant. Malik Cooke scored 18 points to lead the winners. Carolina missed 26 of 31 three-pointers yet took the win. Darrin Horn’s team got off 19 more shots than did Alabama, which was led by Levi Randolph’s 12 points. JaMychal Green scored just six points, taking only four shots. One bad note for Horn: The crowd of 7,807 was the smallest ever for an SEC Game at Colonial Arena.
